Verbs have voices, active and passive.
Sentences in which the verb is in the passive voice are longer, because of the addition of the conjugated form of the verb “to be”, so that they suit someone who wishes to hear the sound of, or have the sight of, his or her own words.
The passive voice enables changes of emphasis of the subject and object, thereby conveying how the speaker or writer feels about the subject and the object.
